How to know the charge of solar batteries?

Solar energy is the cheapest and most sustainable that exists. In fact, there are more and more photovoltaic installations that take advantage of it to pay less on the electricity bill. And there are many who decide to go one step further and also install batteries for solar panels. Something that allows the electricity produced to be used at night or when the production of the panels is lower.

But, beyond the typical advice on solar batteries, we know that there are many doubts about these elements. For example, one of the most repeated by our customers has to do with how long they will last and how to know the charge they have. And since we know that it is possibly something that may also interest you, today we are going to detail everything you should keep in mind about it.

Solar battery: how to know its charge

If you are wondering how to know the charge of your batteries for solar panels, the first thing you should keep in mind is that you need to observe the indicators of the charge regulators. Of course, to know the real value of the charge it is important to check the battery level without it receiving power. Otherwise, the displayed value may not correspond 100% to reality.

Thanks to solar regulators, the charge level of a solar installation battery can be checked. These devices have a screen that indicates the state of the battery at that moment. Of course, the charge levels will vary somewhat depending on the brand of battery in question. For this reason it is important to take the values with stabilized batteries as a reference.

  1. In 12 V battery systems the battery charged to 100% will show 12.7 V. If it is at 75% it will show 12.5 V. At 50% 12.2 V and at 30% 12 V.
  2. In 24 V battery systems, the battery charged to 100% will show 25.4 V. If it is at 75% it will indicate 25 V. At 50% 24.4 V and at 30% 24 V.
  3. In 48 V battery systems, the battery charged to 100% will show 50.8 V. If it is at 75% it will indicate 50 V. At 50% 48.8 V and at 30% 24 V.
